i can not speak for any other industry and only the one i am currently in, and have been for the last decade and a bit:
2.5 years at one company in the same role is the limit
I strongly believe this.
If you are in a role that does not evolve to constantly challenge you, then you will fall out with the role and the people around you, to the point that productivity slides.
How to change this? Evolve.
